Christopher Proctor

Christopher is a tenured member of the library faculty at Indiana University Southeast. He is the Coordinator of Access Services (Circulation Services, Course Reserves, Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan, and stacks maintenance). Christopher teaches information literacy classes for a variety of disciplines, and he provides weekly reference/research services along with his colleagues. His main research interest is investigating the history and development of libraries as cultural heritage institutions and teaches Library History as an adjunct professor at IU-Indianpolis.

Christopher also serves as the Campus Accreditation Project Manager for IU Southeast and has been responsible for building and maintaining the information infrastructure used in the ongoing regional accreditation efforts with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Within his local community, Christopher volunteers with the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion (a local Tibetan Buddhist Dharma center and temple) and is actively building its library’s infrastructure from the ground up. Christopher also serves as the IU Southeast Library liaison with the Floyd County Public Library (FPL) in order to build and maintain the strong partnership between the two institutions.

Before moving to IU Southeast in 2016, Christopher was the Coordinator of Teen Services for the Charlestown-Clark County Public Library System in Southern Indiana and was responsible for collection development and maintenance; programming; and partnering with local schools to provide information literacy instruction to students in grades 7 – 12. Before that, he worked in the reference department for the same library system, where he also developed adult-oriented programs that were met with high degrees of success. Overall, Christopher has been connected to libraries in one way or another since he was 14.
