David Lapsey

Dr. David S. Lapsey Jr. holds the position of Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University Southeast. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville in 2021. With extensive teaching experience in the field of criminal justice, he has instructed courses in policing, research methods, victimology, and courts. Dr. Lapsey's academic pursuits center on a variety of areas within criminal justice, notably case processing, police training, meta-analysis, and victimology. His involvement includes roles as a research assistant and project manager for multiple research initiatives. He contributed to a state-funded research project aimed at enhancing system responses to victims by evaluating legislation to address unprocessed sexual assault kits in Kentucky. Additionally, he participated in an experiment funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance assessing a comprehensive statewide sexual assault training course spanning 40-hours. Dr. Lapsey also worked on research funded by the National Institute of Justice, which involved the implementation and experimental evaluation of a trauma-informed interview training program for sexual assault investigators. His scholarly contributions include publications in the Journal of Experimental Criminology, Criminal Justice & Behavior, Journal of Criminal Justice, and Crime & Delinquency.
