William Allegrezza

William Allegrezza serves as the Associate Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and is a Chancellor’s Professor of English and Women’s and Gender Studies at Indiana University Northwest. Since joining the university in 2000, he has held numerous leadership positions, including President of the Faculty Organization, Chair of the English Department, and Director of the Writing Center. Dr. Allegrezza earned his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Louisiana State University, specializing in American, Italian, and Ancient Greek literature. He was an IU Bicentennial Professor and is a four-time recipient of the IU Trustee Teaching Award.

Dr. Allegrezza has published 19 books, including the 2025 fiction work A Glass for the High Dive, the collaborative poetry collection Prunes and Prisms (with Serene Piccoli), and Step Below: Selected Poems 2000-2015.
