Gabriel Sheir

Gabe Sheir has been working in international education for almost a decade. He began his career after graduating in 2016 as an English teacher in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan before joining the American Pavilion team at the 2017 World’s Fair in Astana, Kazakhstan. For two years, Gabe worked in a public school in northern Ukraine as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Prior to joining IU, Gabe served as a Russian Language Resident Director in Kyrgyzstan for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth. Gabe is thrilled to connect with students from all backgrounds and travel the world in search of great conversation.

Gabe’s hobbies and interests are varied. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, lifting weights, reading, painting miniatures, and tabletop role-playing games. During the summer, you can find him in his garden or volunteering on a local farm in Bloomington.
